why parks?
When it comes to family photos, the location sets the stage for your story. Columbus has no shortage of beautiful spots, but the metro and city parks are some of my absolute favorites. They’re versatile, easy to access, and offer natural backdrops that make your family the focus.
The best part? Each park has its own personality. Some feel adventurous and woodsy, others are lush and romantic, and some are wide open and glowing at sunset. No matter the season, there’s a perfect spot to match your family’s vibe.
Highbanks Metro Park
Lewis Center
With dramatic ravines, wildflower meadows, and sweeping overlooks, Highbanks is where adventure meets beauty. The wooded paths are gorgeous year-round, and the wide-open fields glow at sunset.
Perfect for: adventurous families, seniors, or anyone who wants both nature and drama in their photos.

Rocky fork metro park
New Albany
Rocky Fork is a hidden gem. With open fields, rustic fences, and golden light at sunset, it feels both simple and magical. It’s also quieter than many of the larger parks, which means your session feels more relaxed and personal.
Perfect for: fall minis, couples, and families who want a golden, airy backdrop.
Franklin Park
Columbus
Right next to the Conservatory, Franklin Park is a city favorite with sprawling lawns, big trees, and blooming gardens throughout the year. In spring and summer, it feels lush and colorful; in fall, the trees put on a stunning display. It offers the beauty of nature with a touch of city charm.
Perfect for: maternity sessions, families who want variety, or anyone who loves the mix of natural + urban vibes.
Park of roses
Clintonville
Okay, technically not a metro park, but it’s too magical to leave out. When the roses are in bloom, it’s like stepping into a fairytale. Dreamy, romantic, and totally breathtaking, it makes photos feel like art.
Perfect for: maternity sessions, anniversary photos, or families who want a garden fairytale feel.

The truth is, there isn’t one “best” Columbus park for family photos, it depends on your family’s personality and what kind of vibe you want. That’s part of my job: helping you choose a location that feels like you.
Whether it’s the adventurous trails of Highbanks, the calm open space at Sharon Woods, the golden glow of Rocky Fork, or the lush gardens at Franklin Park, Columbus has a magical spot waiting for your story.
