Some Stories aren't told, They're felt.

Every spring, Columbus, Ohio quietly transforms. Goodale Park bursts into bloom—cherry blossoms fluttering like confetti, magnolias stretching toward the sky, and golden light filtering through tree branches like something out of a fairytale. This story unfolded on a breezy spring evening under a canopy of cherry blossoms, where one toddler ran wild with wonder, and golden retriever danced through falling petals.

That’s exactly where I met this beautiful family: mom, dad, their energetic 1.5-year-old, and their sweet golden retriever—all celebrating the final weeks before baby number two arrives.

That’s the magic of spring in Columbus, Ohio—everything blooms, everything breathes, and if you’re lucky, you get to freeze a few of those fleeting seconds in time.

This Goodale Park maternity session wasn’t about perfection or posing. It was about play. About a real family—expecting baby number two, chasing after baby number one, and savoring the sacred in-between.

Why we love child-led photography

Little ones weren’t made to sit still—and that’s the beauty of it. As a Columbus family photographer, I specialize in child-led photo sessions, where your kiddo gets to be... well, a kid. We didn’t try to wrangle their 1.5-year-old into stiff poses (have you met a toddler?).  Instead, we followed his lead.

He wanted to run? We ran.

He wanted to climb? We cheered him on.

He wanted to stop and pet his golden retriever? We captured the snuggles, the nose boops, the tail swooshes through flower petals like paint on a canvas.

This wasn’t a session with a script.

It was a real-life, giggle-filled, dirt-on-the-knees kind of evening.

The kind where joy lives in motion.

  • These are the in-between moments that matter.
  • The giggles. The glances. The pauses in motion.
  • The story of a growing family—told in real time.

Goodale Park: A favorite columbus location

If you’re searching for a picture-perfect location in Columbus, Goodale Park in spring is truly unmatched. Wide walking paths, flowering trees, soft sunlight, and open green spaces make it one of my go-to spots for:

  • Maternity sessions
  • Family photos with pets
  • Child-led outdoor adventures
  • Mini sessions during peak bloom

And yes—dogs are always welcome.

As a Columbus maternity photographer, I’m not here to make you look perfect.

I’m here to remind you that you already are—especially in the messy, playful, totally unscripted moments.

Your toddler doesn’t need to sit still.

Your pup doesn’t need to pose.

And you, mama? You’re allowed to breathe, laugh, move, and just be.

Because these images?

They’ll tell your baby one day,

"Look how loved you were—before we even met you.”
