This session was originally meant to be part of my dreamy Cherry Blossom Mini Series—those soft pink petals, the first warm breeze of spring, the magic of tiny feet beneath blooming trees. But as any parent (or Ohio photographer!) knows, plans shift. Weather rolled in and blossoms rolled out, and we found ourselves at Franklin Park a little later than expected—no cherry blossoms in sight.
And yet? It couldn’t have been more perfect.
We started with a little movement—a game of walking toward the camera, hips bumping, feet skipping—until we hit our first roadblock: shoes that were just not having it.
So off they came! And suddenly the world opened up. Grass between toes, freedom in the air. Goodbye, blisters. Hello, barefoot joy.
From there we became airplanes, circling around mom and dad in a race only the kids could win. We flew. We ran. We gave the biggest bear hugs you’ve ever seen.

The kids led the way to a new area, scouting the best photo spots like little adventurers. We made potions from twigs and dandelions, won make-believe trophies, and spun ourselves silly with ring-around-the-rosie.

And just when we thought the sun might set on our time together, we played one final round of hide and seek—because joy, like childhood, doesn’t punch a clock.
I left Franklin Park with a full heart and a memory card that practically giggled when I opened it to edit. The Norton family brought their real selves, their playful spirit, and their barefoot magic. I can still hear the laughter echoing through my screen.

If you're craving a dose of this kind of joy—real, playful, barefoot-in-the-grass kind of joy—mini sessions might be just the thing. Whether you're hoping for blossoms, evergreens, or golden fall leaves, there's always room to make memories that feel like your family. You bring the giggles, I’ll bring the camera.
